Mastery of THE SELF

As we grow and experience this that we call living, we watch time come and go, the hassle and bustle through all the episodes of life that find us, the stress trying to figure out who we are, what we want and need, who likes or dislikes us, the nuances of trying to choose gifts for the relatives friends we remember on special days like birthdays and christmas, the stresses that come with trying to figure out what foods to cook or how to make time for our kids. We awake to the realisation that we have shared the beautiful moments with loved ones, those of yesterday and the ones we love today “at least I hope that we make time to enjoy life and live it in love”, but wake up to the reality that we HAVE NOT MASTERED WHO WE TRULY ARE AS A PERSON (WHO THE SELF IS).
Yes, time will come and go THROUGH each beating heart's drum, we are growing up and growing older and yet – Life itself does not wait for man to awake to Self.

The question therefore arises “how does one ensure that each moment’s breath of his/her life is full of blessings, joyous moments and success? How does one attain a continually happy state?

Part 1
Taking charge of who you are
One of the critical keys to an abundant and successful life “not just this moment or the next”, but all your life is the understanding of the notion that you need to take charge of yourself.
Who you are, the choices you make for your life and those around you determine the quality of a life that you are going to have. Until you decide to live your life as best as you the individual choose, until you realise that you owe it to yourself AND NOT OTHERS to find out what it is THAT you love doing, who it is you love sharing your life with “not who society, your mother, father or friends” have chosen for you; only once you get to know who you are and embrace the control you have for your own life, can you truly experience life as its meant to be lived.

Your happiness is in your own hands; your fun can be created by you, gaining more knowledge is your own responsibility. No one has to do anything for you, be any one thing for you, love you a certain way, talk to you a certain way. You personally need to get up and carve the path that you are going to walk. If you master yourself first before expecting any such reactions from people, if you give first, love first, be first that which you want others to be for you, if you master who you are, you will be amazed at how easy it is to receive what you deserve.

It’s equally true that the human spirit can be very fickle. Demands and expectations have channelled so many people into being individuals they do not like being, working in areas they have no passion for. People’s obsession with money; their competitive nature and need to be better than their neighbour, friend, partner or brother have created such an unhealthy imbalance in society, you wonder where we are headed.

You may be wondering why you’re not succeeding in your job, why you are not getting the promotion and your junior colleague is? The answer most likely lies in YOUR
  • lack of passion for what you do,
  • lack the drive and heart to realise your true potential,
  • non-belief in the control and power you have over your own feelings, actions and reactions, AND
  • Ability to make your own choices.
